How ETC Solar Water Heaters Work

Evacuated Tube Collectors (ETC) use rows of borosilicate glass tubes, each containing a smaller inner tube coated with a solar-absorbing material. The vacuum between the two tube walls eliminates heat loss to air, allowing the collector to reach temperatures of 85–90°C even on mildly cloudy days. Water circulates through the manifold at the top, absorbing heat as it passes over the tubes.
